$5 Burlap Curtains

$5 Burlap Curtains

I have been wanting to make Burlap curtains for forever! So I have been looking for cheap burlap online, but for the life of me I can not find any. Turns out I was looking in the wrong place the whole time...

Misprinted Burlap Sacks is THE way to Go!
I found Big misprinted sacks for $1.20 each!
(and I only needed 4)

I took the sacks and cut them down the sides so that the only part that was attached was the bottom...

Then I picked the side of the sack that did not show the print as well (So it was the inside of the sack) and made that side the front.

I had some pieces of burlap already so I used those for the straps...

Finally it all came together...this made 4 panels

In the end I ironed them....and took out 1 panel
I had some extra so I made these too.... For our windows

Rustic pie pan Tier... Thing

So I have had a couple days in a row where Brandon has had a ton of studying to do...making it almost impossible for us to do anything besides be at home or in the library. On the plus side though it has given me the opportunity to try out half the projects I have seen on Pinterest. : D Hence all of the DIY posts.
Anyway, on to the project...

Not really sure what to call this...but I still like it, so I made one of my own! :)
.2 older pie pans (DI has a lot for .50)
.Hot glue gun
.Something to go in-between the pans and raise them

Taken From Pinterest (not mine)

Here are my Pans...

As You can see I decided to use old door knobs for my center stand. I hot glued them together and then to the pans.

I was going to decorate them...but I do not have cool stuff like the original photo haha
I think I am going to put our keys on it and other random stuff. We will see...

Rustic Here I come!

Rustic Buck Frame

Taken from Pinterest (not mine)

This was a lot easier than I thought it would be.
.Paper
.Permanent pen
.The picture of a buck you want to outline
.Then a frame (I already had one so I used tape to keep the picture in)

You can print the buck straight onto the paper you have...but my printer does not have that much ink so I just colored it in by hand.
So I placed the picture of the buck on top of the paper and traced it...so it left an impression
Then I went back and outlined it in permanent ink pen and filled it in :)
(You cannot see the streaks in person, like you can here)

POTATO Shirt

I have been seeing the potato stamp idea on Pinterest for a while...So I decided to try it out!
.Shirt
.Potato
.Knife
.Paint

This was my first attempt:

My Second attempt was a lot better!
And I used a cooler shape than triangle...

So cute!

Death by Puzzle

Brandon and I were under the impression that puzzles were supposed to be relaxing...Wrong.
They lied to us!

We decided to open a puzzle box that we have had forever. It had 6 puzzles so we decided on the castle (because that was Brandon's favorite). "We can do this puzzle really fast and then eat dinner" we thought. It didn't look too bad until we noticed that the puzzle pieces had a star pattern on the non picture side of the puzzle. At the time we did not know what this was for...but we soon found out.

The border of the puzzle itself took us multiple hours. And the actual puzzle took us close to a week.-That doesn't include the time when Brandon dropped it and we* had to put it back together haha.

*(Well he got to put it back together and was locked in our room until it was fixed haha)

We even had help...A LOT of help. (From our lovely used to be neighbors Zach and Sabrina)

Turns out the puzzle was made so that multiple pieces could fit into other spots without looking like they were in the wrong place! That is like torture...especially when all the pieces are either black or blue or white.
Sometimes the only way to put it together correctly was by turning the pieces over and connecting them according to their star patterned back. For the longest time we thought we had missing pieces...but it ended up that I had just put them in the wrong place...

1 Week to put it together and 30 seconds to take it apart...yet these things are so addicting
My Mother will be So PROUD!

Lidia and "Amen"

                                    That Just Happened

In Spanish Class we played a game where the teacher says a word and you try to write it on the board in Spanish faster than anyone else . . . A foreign student, the sweetest girl named Lidia (not real name), got up and stood by the board. Our teacher said the word... Lidia wrote it quickly and yelled for joy because she was the first to finish. Our teacher walked over to check her work...she and our whole class broke out laughing. The teacher had said "A Man".
But Lidia had written "Amen" instead of "Hombre (the Spanish equivalent for man). She had been so excited that she just wrote the first thing that came to her mind. Bless her heart. Haha She made my day!

What do you do in Rexburg in the winter.....

SNOW CONES!
Real snow cones that is!

Things you need:
1. Free shaved ice flavor (because free is always fun)
2. Fresh Snow (don't have any? come to Rexburg. We are willing to share ;) )
3. Awesome friends (preferably ones that are okay with eating snow...for obvious reasons)

We chose Shawn and Bethany...

They were really good. Especially after we mixed them long enough :)
